Originally from the U.S., Leah Janeczko has lived in Italy since 1991 and for over 25 years has worked as an Italian-to-English translator of fiction for readers of all ages.
Her recent translations have been praised by The Times, author Phillip Pullman, BBC 4 Radio, the Italian Prose in Translation Awards, The Guardian, BookTrust president Michael Morpurgo and others, with Roberto Piumini’s Glowrushes featured in The New York Times as one of the best children’s books of 2023 and Veronica Raimo’s Lost on Me longlisted for the 2024 International Booker Prize.
Leah also offers creative services to authors and companies, and writes English lyrics for Italian rock bands, including eight songs for The Elephant Man’s debut album, Sinners, produced by Steve Lyon.
Leah is guest curator of the first-ever Italian Lit Month hosted by the Global Literature in Libraries Initiative. From October 1st to 31st (the same month that Italy will be guest of honor at the Frankfurt book fair) the blog will feature daily posts written by over 30 Italian-to-English literary translators.
