Literary Translator &
Creative Consultant

Originally from the U.S., Leah Janeczko has lived in Italy since 1991 and for over 25 years has worked as an Italian-to-English translator of fiction for readers of all ages.

Her recent translations include Roberto Piumini’s Glowrushes, chosen by The New York Times as one of the best children’s books of 2023 and by BookTrust president Michael Morpurgo as his favorite children’s book of the year; and Veronica Raimo’s Lost on Me, shortlisted for the John Florio Prize and longlisted for the International Booker Prize.

Leah also writes English lyrics for Italian rock bands, including over a dozen songs for The Elephant Man’s first two albums (producer: Steve Lyon).

In 2024, Leah was curator of the first-ever Italian Lit Month hosted by the Global Literature in Libraries Initiative. From October 1st to 31st (the same month that Italy was guest of honor at the Frankfurt book fair) the blog featured 50 articles written by over 30 Italian-to-English literary translators, who recommended 100 books, journals, websites and films.
